Just a thought for the future, A university study was done with 40 people, 20 were asked to write down what they wanted from the future and 20 were asked to just say what they wanted. They checked in after 20 years. 85% of those who wrote it down had accomplished their goals compared to 0% of those that just said what they wanted.
Write it down!!!!!
The key though is to say what you want, not what you don't want (eg: I don't want to be poor, I dont want to be addicted to a substance, I don't want to be unsuccessful. Use the opposite of that. I want to be rich, I want to be drug free, I want to be successful)
Can it hurt guys?
Stay strong Mike

Two valuable thoughts i've cherished that have their origins in 12-step programs (whether you believe in them as a whole is irrelevant, i'm still on the fence myself as far as they go): "Fake it until you make it" which i've always interpreted as, "You don't have to buy something hook, line and sinker internally in order for there to be useful and positive outcomes in your life; alter the behavior, and the mindset may yet follow"- and "Take want you want, and leave the rest" -which kind of follows the previous thought, and reminds us that a genuine positive is simply that- a genuine positive; it's up to us to make the most of it... a starving man doesn't worry if it's rye, oat, or wheat bread, when bread has been placed in his path... he simply eats it, with the hope that such pickiness may be possible in the future. Nice positive thread Visha - if straws are all there are to grasp, better that than nothing; if all is lost, why type a word? All is not lost, our presence is testimony to that.

Visha, I am hoping for much more days of feeling that my past is not who I am now. And am feeling more secure in that, who I am now, really IS a decent person. I think you, and me, and all the other guys, were always decent people. What we do in recovery is rediscover that fact. We sometimes change or abandon unhealthy behaviors, but I feel I can look back and see all those things as connected to what was done to me as a boy. It's so cool to see you rediscovering the Visha who has always been there. What would you think if I told you that we have seen that great guy shining through all along? Much love, Larry

What a piece of sunshine this post has been, cheers to you and the light that you are, and will be!
As for the labels, they drop the day we drop them, just as it is over, the day we say it is so, that is the amount of power we have, and knowing that we can never call ourselves powerless, and that is a decision we have to make, one day!
