Ever wanted to make a hyoooooooooj generalization? Or say something really profound & even downright right about where you think we as a race took a wrong turn?
Here's your chance to voice your opinion & hog the soapbox as long as you want. Yes you can co-opt something you read somewhere as long as you add 25% of yerself.
C (as in consumerism will figure greatly in my reply)

I'm pretty convinced that the problems the society faces stem from Evolution and the Judicial branches corruption of the rest of our American society.

In general: When 'commen courtesy' become uncommen, and when making excuses for bad behavior become more popular then taking responsibility for it.

ahem... uh could you say a bit more? It was the very first time a person placed they're worth greater than another's. Classism began, our first and worst mistake

When the Coca-Cola company replaced REAL Coke with the "new formula". Then they brought back "Coke Classic"....then suddenly they both disappeared and who the hell knows what kind of Coke we got today!

There's always been classes...even among hunter-gatherer peoples. The ones that provided the food and/or went to battle were the leaders, the rest served them. I'm guessing even cave people had leaders of the group. If we were all equal who would make the hard decisions and take the initiative to progress? lol Anyway I think the idea of the "good old days" is make believe. Times have always been hard, and messed up and there's always been evil people and good people mixed. We're not any more worse people now than in the past, we just have different challenges and messed up things as times change. Just what I think at least.

When the first person who had power chose to use that power as a club rather than a tool.

originally had one thought now have what i think to be 2 key contributors, neither is a complete answer but really there can be no singular true clear answer to a question such as this; really liked what mike had to say about worth too.
1. when farts became something to be ashamed of 2. when the word liability & its meaning was invented
to expand on the first in a more serious light; when the idea was hatched that we as a human were not good enough and required improvement. consumerism especially since the dawn of television has been telling us how we should be, think, act, build, provide, buy, spend.

* MAY TRIGGER NO-FUN-DAMENTALISTS
Wow Great to read your views & thoughts on this everyone
Marinan I think evolution is stuck in Homo Economicus or Religious Superiorus
MemoryVault Dubya hoists a few with Harper up here in Canada, eh (also wanted to say nice to see you again & that your "voice" has been missed)
ak Manners! Yes please... and thank you. You are always most welcome.
mogigo So much to what you say besides worth & classes. We became less self reliant on one level. Also lost sight of the seasonality of food items by being able to import from other countries at any time of the year. ENTITLEMENT!! "What do you mean you don't carry my brand??" Also turning everything into a commodity I love all critters & it pains me seeing people with pets bred specifically as an accessory Am gonna bite my tongue here For now
Barkabus I'm a Pepsi man mahself, but if you can't count on Coke.... nuff said
Andy Classes & leaders... yep. Seems to be part of our very being.
Trish The first person who used power as a club rather than a tool was possibly the original BUTTDUST too?
ROCK ON!
joel Hell yeah fellow mandroid! I am all for dialogue, heated though it can be.
Frost 1) Also like thou shalt deodorize your humanity. *(did Jesus fart or should that be another thread?) 2) THE LAW... ikes eesh & aye carumba eh?
thanks everyone & feel free to keep the dialogue going its anybody's soapbox

we're falling from our posture of civility? oh, i hadn't noticed... i thought we were just receding. don't worry mrs fletcher, it's only a dream, or a movie, or a commercial even. [in the meantime, a more serious response is forthcoming pending the completion of the third trimester of its gestation period, which is scheduled to arrive about the same time that the ball of civilization strikes the ground we walk on...... be mindful of the broken glass ] happy newer year everyone! births and deaths and whoooyah! in the meantime, where was i? .....
