I loved war movies growing up, but never made the connection as to why.
My favorite ones where always the bittersweet ones. I think I know why I liked them
I think it is be cause I identified with the characters in a realm that I could understand and process, war, the same emotional shame and trauma that they felt i was feeling, except I felt that war was a much more masculine ways to feel such things.
My favorite movie would have to be Hamburger Hill. it was made in 1988
But one that I have been thinking about recently is called Uncommon Valor, it was made in 1983, so I first saw it way after it came out.
Here is a scene that always brings tears to my eye but that I love: TRIGGER WARINGhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTG8Z3j1vXY&feature=related
I think it reminds me of the brotherhood or father that I never had.
