this is the text of a song i wrote long ago when i was about 20 years old. i thought it was interesting how full of hope it is considering all i had just gone through during the previous 8 years of my life. this just reconfirms the faith and hope that i have clung to all these years of struggle and pain, and triumph. in retrospect the song seems prophetic.

There is a light I see
Streaming its path to me
Becoming the shadows on my meadow
The laughter at my sorrow
The courage in my fear

Lost on a new plateau
I thought I would never know
Now I'm a gatherer of flowers
A whistler in the shower
And I've been such a long
Been such a long time
Standing such a long time in the rain

Now if it seem to you
that I might have missed my cue
It's only my feelings serve to bind me
I've dealt them out too blindly
When love came knocking before

But don't entertain that doubt
We'll search for the good and bring it out
We'll find that in the long run
That two hearts are better than one
Though I've been such a long time
Been such a long time
Standing such a long time in the rain
Waiting for your sun

Thanks for sharing Ron,

I don't do poetry as a rule but I felt compelled to read this. It expresses succinctly how I felt just after finding MS and making a few connections with some of the men here. A few weeks ago I posted in part: Standing at the crossroads I could have gone either way; now that I've found you, the storm is behind - yes I'm out of the rain.

Reading you this morning gives me to realize that in the few short weeks that I've been here, I have surpassed that horrid place of melancholy that I was trapped in...

...and I'm movin' on, baby!

Thanks again, I'm sure that I'll re-read this a few more times today.

Joel

Yes, Ron...thanks for sharing. Beautiful. And thanks, too, Joel. Found MS about a week ago and starting to believe there really is some hope for me. I've felt so lousy for so long...looking forward to not feeling sad, now that I see there are others who have similar experiences and are finding healing.

Ron,

I hope you are checking back here for comments on your poem. You wrote it a long time ago, but it's still speaking - not just to you at an older age but to others who need a message of hope. It's pretty cool how these things come around in ways we could never have anticipated.

Much love,
Larry

Ron,

It looks very singable. Or playable (as on a horn).

All we need is a tune.
