Hi Guys,
I have a therapist who is out of my insurance network. I have heard that in special cases with enough documentation an insurance company might consider allowing a therapist to become in network. Of course it would be only for one person and no others.

How can I start the ball rolling?

Sometimes therapists learn how to bill in-network through another therapist who is in-network.

Most therapists in-network agree to give the insurance company a substantial break off of their customary fees.

I have found that quality sometimes suffers when therapists agree to work for less.

Then again, sometimes a therapist will work on a sliding-scale, based on ability to pay.

If all else fails, try a supervisor at your insurance company to see what their requirements are.

It would be better obviously if your insurer would pay a portion of the cost of your therapy.

If your insurance is offered through your employment, talk to your insurance specialist at work.

If not, read the policy book that is sent out every year. It might have the info in it that you are looking for. If not, do what Mark suggests and call the company and be a nuisance until you get answers. After all, it's your money.
