I'm back!!! 1,060 miles, a delivery, a drop and hook, and another drop, in 29 hours, including 10 hours of sleep. $460 extra to catch-up on bills with!!! And now my wife wants to use some of it for an overnight trip to Cripple Creek. It will probably have to wait until after Labor Day though.

I know, not another vacation you say.

I need to inspect that beef b4 you deliver it. It usually takes about 10% of the overall load to do it effectively.

I'll let you take a look through what's in my freezer. (I've had to buy a freezer since I started this job). Let's see: I have 2 cs of 80% ground 4 x 5lb bricks, One 12 lb cs of 8oz 90% patties, One 18 lb cs of 6oz 80% patties, 2 or 3 packages of Rosen Choice lamb sirloin at 2 lbs each, and a few other odds and ends including a single 10 lb case of designer cherry pies. Sorry, the 5 lb ground buffalo bricks are no longer available, nor are the Rosen Choice Lamb Racks. I can also buy at wholesale at Maverick Ranch. I think that I can still get Choice Lip-on Ribeye Roll or Choice Striploin for around $6/lb from Maverick, who is an all-natural high-end supplier here in Denver.

Sorry that you live so far away Rob. Transportation costs are pretty high these days. You are always welcome to come and look through what I've got left though.

Some guy here in Denver used to run a babysitting service. Lots of people kept calling asking for a babysitter. This went on for a while until some cop noticed that the guy rode alone to deliver the babysitters to his customers.

Another guy who used to sell ran a delivery service. His customers would pose as delivery customers or drivers. They would talk about the destination and how many miles it was to get there or the drivers would talk about how many miles they had to run or how many hours it took to get there. Hard to believe that some cop figured that one out too. I guess that the excuse given was that there just wasn't that much freight going to Laramie or Casper.

What I posted about the contents of my freezer are just standard meat terminology. Rosen, Coleman, and Maverick Ranch are shippers. 80% is standard hamburger, 90% is ground chuck. The other numbers are a standard method to describe the contents of a case, like 4 x 5lb 80% ground beef brick, equals four individually-wrapped bricks per case of 5 lbs each. 80% is the grind mixture. Choice is a meat grading standard, as is Select, and USDA Prime. Angus is a cattle breed. Striploin is a chunk of trimmed primal beef, Lip-on refers to the way that a Ribeye Roll is trimmed. You take an 8-12 lb striploin, trim off 1/2", then slice it vertically for strip steaks. Dry-aged Prime beef is the good stuff. If the seller doesn't specify the grade it is often the next level below Select, or a level above pet food.
