I look forward to the Olympics but get tired of all the hype. My favorites in the summer games are the gymnastics events. I could sit and watch that just mesmerized all day.

The Olympics, for me, are a source of primetime soft-core porn.

Michael Phelps makes me swoon!

I guess most people find them interesting either for nationalism reasons, or because they are fascinated watching people doing things that they themself are incapable of. Do you find any sport interesting at all?

Yes - - Phelps was made to swim.

Do we all have something that we must do because that's what we're made for?

I like watching the gymnastics. It just amazes me the precision with which they can fling their bodies around on the bars. It's like watching beautiful music in motion.

There is something truly beautiful when I watch a human being, just a regular guy or girl who has worked and trained their body to perform at the absolute best it can be. Each muscle knows how far it can stretch, every step is sure, every stroke is perfectly timed.

These athletes made it to the Olympics-the absolute highest stage for competition. They will be known as Olympians forever. Everyone who competes at that level is astonishing to me, except maybe in badminton and curling - I don't quite get those.

ROCK ON...........Trish

Sorry i havent replied earlier, i thought lots about your comment, and i understand now, it is like when i watch people play musical instruments i am completely amazed and i really like watching them play, that must be what you feel for sports.

I thought further, i think it is also because i sometimes think that if i really wanted to and really put my mind and heart into it, that i could do some of the things that these "olympians" do. I see it very much as a matter of choice and am therefore not so much in awe at somthing that i can't do because i see it as something i choose not to do, so instead look at the choice they have made and although the poetic details are admirable it doesn't fill me with any great respect. On the other hand, with musicians and things, i know i could not do that however much i want to, so i get really amazed when i see people playing instruments as if they are a part of their own body, it is just really amazing.

there you have it king tut! it is a miracle coming somewhere, from infinity, and beyond! as i am playing, i often stand outside myself and say who, what or where is making this all happen in me? the physics of it, the kinesthetics, the synchronism of it all!!! mindboggling!

back to being objective......or subjective, as the case may be...
