Apparently people have been coming forward to complain about Dr. Ayres and not a thing was done. A list of people who came forward can be seen here:

Just like the Catholic Church. The victims' complaints were denied, ignored and swept under the rug.

The mothers of the victims of Dr. Ayres are very upset that the trial is so long in coming. Here is a letter written by two of them to the San Mateo Daily Journal:

Doron Weinberg,who will be representing Dr. Ayres in his criminal case, is currently representing music mogul Phil Spector in his murder re-trial. We hear that Wienbeg has been manipulating the system by scheduling hearings for both Ayres and Spector on the same day. It is no wonder that a judge in the Ayres case recused himself because of "antipathy" towards Weinberg.

We do believe that the multitude of victims of Dr.Ayres will get their day in court. It is coming, no matter what tricks Weinberg tries. We know this.

Some medical professionals have defended both Dr. Ayres and pediatrician Dr. Mel Levine, who is also accused of molesting boys during office visits

Well, it doesn't look good for Levine either, according to the Raleigh News Observer on Nov. 25/2008:

In the case of Dr William Ayres, it now turns out that many of his colleagues suspected he was molesting boys and didn't report him. One psychiatrist told the mother of a victim that he didn't think it was his place to report him.Aaggg. That psychiatrist later committed suicide. We also know of at least two therapists who tried to report Dr. Ayres to Childrens Services and were thwarted by people at the agency.

I hope that more of those 3000 boys of the predator in the UK come forward.

Oh, yes and in the case of Dr. Levine,he's seen demand for his seminars drop off in the US, so now he goes to Israel to do them.
