No, I don't really. They're words from The Who's classic "My Generation", a great song.

And the reason it came to mind is I was listening to Jimi Hendrix in the car tonight and got to thinking about all the heroes of rock and roll who died before they got old.

For those of us of a certain age we remember Jim Morrison, Grace Slick, Brian Jones, Keith Moon and countless others who lived fast and died young.

But what a legacy they left, fabulous music that lasts a lifetime and longer.
Some will say they wasted their lives with drink and drugs, I suppose they did. But we forget that and continue to enjoy their legacy.

Who will enjoy our legacies though ?
We might not leave behind such a public legacy, but we will leave one.

The people we touch with our lives will be better for meeting us, because we are making ourselves better people. As we heal we have more time for others, we help other people.
We make a bigger impact on other peoples lives.

What a great legacy.

Dave

Lloyd that is our MISSION IN LIFE AND HERE.

Why? Because we can make a difference for people and I can only hope that the world becomes a more enlightened place for those who will follow long after we are gone. But our legacy will never be forgotten.

I gotta howl to that

AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOEE

I came across this piece sometime ago. Perhaps you've seen this before but I find this very inspirational.

Change

When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of
changing the world.

As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I
shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country.

But it, too, seemed immovable. As I grew into my twilight years, in one last
desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to
me, but alas, they would have none of it.

And now as I lie on my deathbed, I suddenly realize: If I had only changed my
self first, then by example I would have changed my family.

From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to
better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world."

I got a PM from Stee, who pointed out that Grace Slick is alive and well and living in North California, I have to admit that I wrote that post under the influence of too much French red wine, sorry - it should have been a nice Californian ;\)
I meant Janis Joplin.

I was thinking about it today, as I was lying under a 4x4 chassis welding, as you do
and Matt's recent post came to mind about the death of his grandfather, that was a great legacy.

Just to make a lasting impression on someone you leave behind by loving them, caring for them, and sharing whatever wisdom you've picked up along the way. What greater legacy is there ?
