Thanks guys! Your support is wonderful! It's like love coming out of my monitor! Just lit another candle under my Mom's picture in my room. She knew that I loved her when she passed and knew that I knew she loved me. The same was true of my Dad when he passed 13 years ago. Over all I had a pretty good relationship with both my parents so I really feel lucky and blessed as much as I feel sad.

Sorry to hear of your loss, blueshift, but am glad to hear of the good relationship you had with both your parents. That is indeed a blessing, and also that she knew she was loved.

We're here to listen if and when you need to talk about it and you have our care and concern, blueshift. Crying is good. Let it flow.

I have shared this before, but I thought you might like to see it again.

I lost my mother almost three years ago, and to this day, this poem brings tears to my eyes. A very good friend of mine gave it to me, and I loved it so much that we had a friend read it out loud at her funeral.

LETTER FROM HEAVEN

To my dearest friends and family, some things I'd like to say,
but first of all, to let you know, I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven, where I dwell with God above,
here we have no tears of sadness, there is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy, just because I'm out of sight,
remember that I'm with you, every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up, hugged me and said, "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest friends and family, they will be here later on.
I need you here badly, you are part of my plan,
there's so much we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, he wished for me to do,
and foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
When you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you, in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
because you are only human, it's sure to bring you tears.
Please don't be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain,
remember there would be no flowers, unless it were to rain.

I wish I could tell you, all that God has planned,
if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
There is one thing for certain, though my life on earth is over,
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead, and many hills to climb,
but together we can do it, by taking one day at a time.

It was my philosophy, and I'd like it for you too,
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody, who's in sorrow and in pain,
then you can say to God, "my day was not in vain."

Now I am contented, that my life was worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody, who is sad and low,
just lend a hand, and on the way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind.
So when it's time for you to go, from that body to be free,
remember you're not going, you're coming home to me.

Beautiful poem! Thanx This thread is a source of strength for me now. When I get really low I come back and look it over and it makes me smile to think of all my caring friends on MS. It's kind of funny..I miss my Mom more than I ever have and yet I still feel kind of like I'm closer to her now than I ever have been.

Keep playing that song "Free as a Bird" by the beatles. I'm thinking I would like to have it played at my Moms memorial. It reminds me that she is free now and home at last.

AN IRISH FUNERAL PRAYER

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.

Thanx again, guys! Today has been a rough one. I really don't know what's beyond death, but I like to think there is some kind of after-life. I want to see my Mother again young and strong as I remember her being years ago..and happier than she was ever able to be in this life. There's no doubt in my mind that she deserves that.

Irishguy, I really love that Irish funeral prayer! I know there is at least a little Irish on my Mom's side of the family and I really like that prayer...I'm thinking it might be something I would like to share at the memorial. I'm trying really hard to believe what it says..that she's just around the corner waiting.

The thought I may never get to see her again is what's so unbearable.

Sorry for you loss. Keep your mother in your heart. Although it is still hard, it can be comforting to think that the ones we love and care for can still be with us in a way even after they have passed on from this world. My thoughts are with you.
