I lost my mom this past weekend. Started with a stroke Thurs night which left her just barely hanging on and she passed last night. I don't think she suffered much though and for that I'm thankful.

I've been kind of numb though for the most part..between the fits of crying. It still seems kind of unreal somehow.

oh blue I am so sorry. I am really sad for you. I know that feeling. I miss my mom a lot
((((((((((Blueshift))))))))

Take care and get some rest. Cry all you want. It will seen unreal for a long time but you will feel better eventually. That empty place in side will still be there but you will bear it better over time.

lots of love

I'm sorry to hear of this. I don't know you very well, or her at all, but I'm sure that she was a good person. Were you two close?

I am sorry to learn of the passing of your mother. I know there are few words that can really comfort you in this time of sorrow. Find peace in the fact that she didn't suffer and her illness was short.

I know, it helped me to think of all the good memories I had of my Mom at this very sad time. Just remember she will be in your heart forever and her lessons about life will continue to guide you.

Much love in this time of sorrow. I will keep both of you in my prayers.

Dan

I know when my Mom passed away 3 years ago I was devistated. I wasn't sure how I was even supposed to face life - she had always been there for me ...

All I can tell you is what helped me - and that's tears. Let them flow. Grieve. And when the laughter hits because of a memory - allow it to happen to - it's all part of missing someone important in your life - laughing, crying, and hopefully, eventually, that warm spot in your heart set aside for them alone. That place that everytime you touch - you feel their love.

I hurt for you, and hope your grief can bring you to a similar place of peace, eventually.

fellow sufferer,

M

blue shift, i pray for and hope that you may cherish the memories of this precious person who has brought you into this world. it's not over for you nor her; she has gone to accept the gift of god's better idea, and in a very real way brings you along with her. may you be at peace thru these next few days which will seem as a dream. then, in the remaining days of your life, cling to the notion of your meeting her again and sharing in her spirit in more profoundly joyful ways. peace to you, ron

Thanks guys! Your support is wonderful! It's like love coming out of my monitor! \:\) Just lit another candle under my Mom's picture in my room. She knew that I loved her when she passed and knew that I knew she loved me. The same was true of my Dad when he passed 13 years ago. Over all I had a pretty good relationship with both my parents so I really feel lucky and blessed as much as I feel sad.

Blueshift,

I have shared this before, but I thought you might like to see it again.

I lost my mother almost three years ago, and to this day, this poem brings tears to my eyes. A very good friend of mine gave it to me, and I loved it so much that we had a friend read it out loud at her funeral.

LETTER FROM HEAVEN

To my dearest friends and family, some things I'd like to say,
but first of all, to let you know, I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven, where I dwell with God above,
here we have no tears of sadness, there is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy, just because I'm out of sight,
remember that I'm with you, every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up, hugged me and said, "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest friends and family, they will be here later on.
I need you here badly, you are part of my plan,
there's so much we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, he wished for me to do,
and foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
When you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you, in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
because you are only human, it's sure to bring you tears.
Please don't be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain,
remember there would be no flowers, unless it were to rain.

I wish I could tell you, all that God has planned,
if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
There is one thing for certain, though my life on earth is over,
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead, and many hills to climb,
but together we can do it, by taking one day at a time.

It was my philosophy, and I'd like it for you too,
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody, who's in sorrow and in pain,
then you can say to God, "my day was not in vain."

Now I am contented, that my life was worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody, who is sad and low,
just lend a hand, and on the way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind,
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind.
So when it's time for you to go, from that body to be free,
remember you're not going, you're coming home to me.

She will always be with you. I know my Mom is with me, in my heart.

Beautiful poem! Thanx This thread is a source of strength for me now. When I get really low I come back and look it over and it makes me smile to think of all my caring friends on MS. It's kind of funny..I miss my Mom more than I ever have and yet I still feel kind of like I'm closer to her now than I ever have been.

Keep playing that song "Free as a Bird" by the beatles. I'm thinking I would like to have it played at my Moms memorial. It reminds me that she is free now and home at last.

Blueshift,

My deepest condolences for your loss, it is always hard to know what to say. so if i may i would like to pass on to you something we say here in ireland when someone passes on. I do hope you will be ok during this time.

Dean.
---------------------------------------
AN IRISH FUNERAL PRAYER

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Thanx again, guys! Today has been a rough one. I really don't know what's beyond death, but I like to think there is some kind of after-life. I want to see my Mother again young and strong as I remember her being years ago..and happier than she was ever able to be in this life. There's no doubt in my mind that she deserves that.

Irishguy, I really love that Irish funeral prayer! I know there is at least a little Irish on my Mom's side of the family and I really like that prayer...I'm thinking it might be something I would like to share at the memorial. I'm trying really hard to believe what it says..that she's just around the corner waiting.

The thought I may never get to see her again is what's so unbearable.

Blueshift,

Sorry for you loss. Keep your mother in your heart. Although it is still hard, it can be comforting to think that the ones we love and care for can still be with us in a way even after they have passed on from this world. My thoughts are with you.

sorry Blue,

You are not alone during this time. Take it slow, and get your feet on the ground in the time you need to. Take good care too.

When I lost my mom, the best thing for me to know, even though I had to deal with it alone on a level, as we all do when we loose someone, is that people were also around if I needed them.

We are here. So reach out uf you need.

Blue,
I'm sorry to hear that you lost your mother. I lost my father about 5 years ago, and I still miss him. It does get better and you'll always have your memories.

Blueshift,

Just coming back to this to ask how you're doing and let you know you're remembered and cared about. VN's comment to you reminds me of my reaction to my grandfather's death years ago. I thought I would never come to terms with that, and of course I am still sad at the loss. But I still have my memories, a ton of them, so in an important way he is still with me. I can enjoy those memories now, without feeling the pain. I am sure things will work out for you too.

Much love,
Larry
