Entropy, heat death,
Loss of time loss of breath,
ends the light of suns for a million years,
blow out the candles of a million tears.

Dried wells, empty streams,
broken blossoms shattered beams,
Desert wastes stretch for a million miles,
Lacking all the strength for a million trials.

Colours lost, spilled paint,
Valed shaddowes, valed fate,

Stop all the clocks for a million hours,
Set flames in the fields of a million flowers.

rising towers, cold glass,
Prisoning steel, prisoning brass,

Wind ushers in the voices of a million birds,
Empty and bright are a million words.

clockwork droid, red rust,
Dry pages, dry dust,

Stilled is the sounding of a million bells,
false the magic of a million spells.

Yet somewhere there is sunrise,
yet somewhere there are wide skies,
yet somewhere stil the spark flies,

undying.

Yet somewhere there is warm gold,
Yet somewhere tales stil untold,
yet somewhere wings may stil unfold,
for flying.

but not here.

Luke,

Could I suggest a change?

Instead of "but not here", how about "but not yet"?

Much love,
Larry

what are you studying luke? just wondering because your talking about entropy and heat death of the universe and i don't hear other people talk about things like that very often

Hmmmm Larry, interesting suggestion, but I was feeling geographical when i wrote this poem, (not to mention wripping of Stephen King'd dark tower a bit), ----- as well as rather down, so "not here" fitted at the time, I'm not sure about making that change now though.

Kt, I'm actually doing philosophy, and while I have studdied meta physics, most of the stuff I've learnt about entropy etc has been from reading popular physics stuff like "A brief history of time" by Stephen Hawkin, ---- having friends who do physics or maths, and of course reading a lot of fairly serious Sf.

Astro physics is something that I find really interesting, but I don't precisely have the maths to do it properly.
