The therapist I am seeing now suggested that I find me a piano to play since it has been several years since I last played one. It was one of the things that got me through the abuse and has helped me to relax, communicate my thoughts and feelings and emotions when I couldn't speak the words.

So tonight I found the little practice rooms at the university which is only 10 blocks away (why I didn't think of this sooner, I will never figure out!). I didn't play it very long because my fingers are sooooo out of shape... but it felt good and it felt strange. It will take a little to build my strength and control up in my fingers but right now, I need it more than I have ever needed it in my life. It did help me to relax a little... more than a few beers would have done for me!.

hello, MrDon-It is so good to hear that you have gone back to playing the piano. Of all the instruments, I think, it says the most to those who listen and especially, for those who play the piano. I started playing when I was in the fifth grade, but after a few years, I wanted to go on something else. I should have stayed with the piano. I play the piano and sing. It helps me a lot.
So does listening to music. Keep playing!

The piano is good for me. For a long time, it was my way of feeling anything. I have kept it up but one thing I notice is that it may be getting me in touch with various "emotions and feelings" which I can not put words too. I just notice how depressed and sad my mood is after playing the piano. I'm not sure what all that is about, but at least it doesn't last too long (usually).

Good for you,, i am glad you are getting back in touch with the piano and as far as the things it is bringing up for you, just flow with it, the words will come, i suspect it has something important to tell you that only the piano can bring out.

music was, and has always been of key imortance for the sake of my own well being. im also a writer and visual artist, -specifically 3dimensional art. for myself it alway most important that i take ideas and thought put them into some physical representation so that i may share them wit other individual. related my ideas is what i strive for in my life. art and music helps 'cause im not very good, nor successful at socializing or relating myself to others in spoken word.

so its nice to hear that others are getting in touch with such outlet. that makes me happy.
