All my life I have looked
for someone to cherish.
Not just to love.
I love a lot of things.
Chocolate especially.
But to really cherish,
Value, adore.
Someone that I would do
Anything for
Brave anything for
Someone I can’t stand to be
Without
Each time I thought
This is the one
I was let down
Disappointed
Crushed
I hid it pretty well.
Didn’t want anyone to know
How bad it hurt
Not just to lose them
But to lose my dream to
Cherish them
You came into my life
As a surprise
Unexpected and welcomed
It took a while
For me to discover
But I realized the other day
I got my secret wish
I love you Patti
And I have come
At last
to Cherish you

It's nice to know that sometimes, you come around and realize the truth. I don't feel quite as pessimisitic, now. Thanks for sharing this.

I feel all I ever do is throw my efforts into an unresponsive black hole.

okay, Roger. Now you've got me crying... But not to worry. It's a good thing, not a bad one.

Hugs to you and Patti,

John

Up until I met you, Rog, I felt like a poet. I thought I was a poet. Hell, I published poetry. Now along comes Roger. And the two things I love about you the most are your ability to cry, for joy and for sadness, and your ability to express in words what is going on in your heart and soul.

It has been a long, long, long, long time, Rog, since I have put quill to paper to write poetry. I feel as though it is in me somewhere still. But I am not quite there yet.

For now, I guess I will just live vicariously through yours.

Reaching across the miles with my heart to you and Patti,

Brother Jeff

Roger,

I am so glad for you. And Patti could not have found a more loving and effectionate husband. I do hope you let her read what you have said above. You are so lucky to have found such a wonderful gal.

My GF is moving out on Monday. Just one more detour on my road to recovery. Oh, well, it is her loss.

Ken

It is indeed her loss Ken. Meeting you and the WoR was an honor that I was happy to have. I know you will find someone who appreciates you for that man you are. A detour indeed is all it is and you will be on track again straight away. thank you for you kind words and yes she has a copy and a big smooch.

Bravo Roger!

I envy you. You've put into words my feelings and relationships so beautifully.

I now have hope 'SHE' is coming soon...

Bless you brother,
M

a song just for you!

Wonderfully open in you prose there...just beautiful. Way to embrace the intimacy of relating to others (one in particular) keep expressing...

Wow Bulala, what a beautiful song. I love acustic guitar too. Thank you for that. We have a way to go but we are going together and that is what is important.

thanks magoo!
I wish I could take credit for it (my quote) but it is, alas, another song by yet another artist...for that one its a girl called "Plumb" and the song is "Nice, Naive and Beautiful" off of her album Beautiful Lumps of Coal...great stuff...

and freedom...I just love that song! Your poem reminded me of the same spirit!

warm wishes to all...
