Finished up Federal last night. I get to keep some of MY money. Got confirmation from TurboTax just now.

No STATE taxes. Tennessee does it right. Just a sales tax.

Don't like the taxes either, One of the reasoned I hearted Huckabee.

A few short years ago, the Tennessee legislature attempted to introduce an income tax. Word got out to the people and they sent the legislature a huge message that they were not to pass that into law. I still have articles on it. Citizen activism DOES work.

Oh yes, Harry Browne lived in that state in the later years of his life before he died, and I remember him speaking of exactly what you just spoke of Andy.

I should add however, that the TN Representative that introduced that STUPID bill to start an income tax swore to try again the next congressional session. I hope that his district had the good sense to THROW HIS ASS out of office. I don't know which state rep he was, I should look him up though just to know.

How do states pay for roads, programs, etc etc with just sales tax? Is half the state in disarray?

Last I heard, roads are paid for by excise taxes on gasoline and tires, except for fees charged on toll roads.

It all comes from somewhere, so what difference does it make if they take it out of your check or charge you $20 more for a tire? *shrug*
