BECOMING A MAN

Floating off alone with my self in its safe zone
Amused with carefree movement
My warrior left at the meadows edge wards off dangers
Soon a would be attacker is dropped with no real harm
Approaching, I examine what is a familiar memory
With it’s Trojan horse behavior
And demon-esque intentions

I can barely stand
And tremble at the thought
Of being drained once more
But I rise as I remember
My accumulated strength
Coming into its own

With the knowledge to use it gently
I have no fear
Of lacking compassion
And I believe I’m learning love

For whatever crazy reason your poem reminds me of images I have in my head from Excalibur, an amazing film of some years ago. Have you seen it? It pursues some of the same ideas you are talking about here.
