A few years ago, I had a magnetic paper-towel holder on my fridge. One night someone pulled too hard on the paper towels and yanked it off the fridge. It hit the floor and one end broke off. Now it's an L-shaped piece of plastic with one end broken off. I stuck it up in a cupboard for what seemed 3-4 years, and forgot about it.

Last weekend, I went through my cupboards in an attempt to clean things up and organize. I pulled out this paper-towel holder and decided it was time to get creative and see if it could be fixed. I considered epoxy, and other ideas. Lots of thinking. All over this piece of plastic.

I finally went to Home Depot and bought some screws, had a couple small brackets in the garage, and set to work. I lined up the plastic, and marked where to drill holes for the screws. I had to cut the screws with some plier-like tool so that they would not stick out beyond the plastic. After the screws were put in, I put epoxy on the other side to keep them intact.

Lo and behold, a restored paper towel holder once again positioned on my fridge. Seemed like an awful darn lot of work for this simple device, but I saw enough value in it that I did not want to let it go. I mainly wanted to see if it could be fixed.

Anything can be fixed. Even us. It just depends on whether we value ourselves enough to put the time and effort into healing.

Andy

As I read this Andy, I was thinking to myself, Why wouldn't he swing past the Paper Towel Holder section of Home Depot and just get a new one?

There was a method to your mission though...

How quick we are to write-off ourselves in a world where nothing is built to withstand the test of time anymore.

I hope your paper towel holder has many years of faithful service in it.

Because I could never find another one like it.
