Time stands still now
I sit and wait
I don't know what I expected, when the demons went away
Parties?
Fireworks?
Anything but emptiness.....never emptiness.
I'm glad they're gone
The demons
Not thrashed and burned or scared away
But done in by discovery
Their cover blown
But......emptiness
Where once there was so much pain and fear
So many people trying to pull me out
Of what, now
A room where there is nothing but a bench?
Coal dust on the floor
A little boy who sits and waits with his hands folded neatly in his lap?
No emotion here,
Not even boredom
Just
Well
Emptiness
How odd to merely sit and wait.

Great! that's exactly how I felt after I confronted my perp a few years ago. I had his image in my mind until well into my 50's then with one conversation, gone. I felt as if I had no one to focus my anger on but then I realized that just because he apologized, I didn't have to clean his slate.
Giant steps in this recovery process sometimes are confusing, huh?

Your a terrific man Bobby,
thanks for being here.

Dan

Hi Bobby,

I really likes this poem. It's easy to sense the anti-climatic feeling of it all. The imagery of the little boy waiting is one I think a lot of us can related to.

bobby,

it really is strange how something so terrible becomes o part of us, shaping us into the adults we will become. yet when dealt with, is like "losing" a part of yourself. the only thing that i have found to replace that is the love of a special woman.

may you find your happiness, kelly

Bobby,

I so vividly remember this discovery. I had managed to deal with so many of my old bad feelings about myself, and that felt so great. But then I realized I didn't know what to do next.

Is there room on that bench for one more?

Much love,
Larry
