The Most Advanced Quadruped Robot on Earth

BigDog is the alpha male of the Boston Dynamics family of robots. It is a quadruped robot that walks, runs, and climbs on rough terrain and carries heavy loads. BigDog is powered by a gasoline engine that drives a hydraulic actuation system. BigDog's legs are articulated like an animal’s, and have compliant elements that absorb shock and recycle energy from one step to the next. BigDog is the size of a large dog or small mule, measuring 1 meter long, 0.7 meters tall and 75 kg weight

Read the article and watch the video here. Absolutely amazing, guys. Worth looking at and marveling over.

I did enter the link actually. Unfortunately I dragged the heel of my hand across the laptop trackpad as I was pasting in the first paragraph of the article and it wiped out the link. That happens to me from time to time. Sometimes it gets really frustrating. At least Firefox has an "undo" feature if I notice the problem. I didn't notice it this time till you guys pointed it out. Thanks

Here's the link.

Isn't that amazing? What had me astounded was when they tried it on ice and how it slipped, stumbled and fell to one knee but righted itself just as a real live four legged critter would and kept on walking! Totally amazing.

wow! I know this is crazy - but I totally didn't like when the guy kicked it....it's creepy but somehow alive - and also doggylike.

Yeah Mark. That was a bit disturbing. The thing is so life like in it's movements. It reacts just like any other living 4-legged critter would in righting itself from a stumble or being kicked. Thankfully they haven't trained it to defend itself! When they do, I think we're all in trouble!!!
