BE CAUTIOUS OF WHAT YOU HEAR

do we all have a shield
that protects us from the onslaught.......

constantly bombarded with words…… enticing pain to become
the feature of a face we are confronted with at all turns……

should we be weary of all spoken word
words that reflect the image we expect
as well as the surprise we had never considered

is the intention of the word to serve us
or do us harm?
self serving; a terrible beast
sacrificing the beloved of humanity in the name of love, even worse

we have little choice but to trust that there really is love and intentions have the ability to be pure

dancr6,

That's a problem many guys have on this site: hearing things they were not prepared for and wondering how to react. Are they really true? Are they well-intended? What can I do now?

When I had such questions I talked to guys I trusted, especially a few of the moderators. What I learned was that this is all part of recovery. We discover so many things about ourselves, and with time we see that while not all these discoveries suited us, they are all part of our progress. I think the most important thing to remember here is that when you feel ambushed or taken by surprise, don't sit alone and isolated with your feelings. Take it to someone and talk about if if you can.

Much love,
Larry

You hit the nail on the head here, Larry.
I do tend to isolate myself with my feelings when I am taken by surprise, and I know that's not good because I rely on my imagination and my imagination, when dealing with self esteem issues, is not on my side. Thanks for understanding what I was saying. I think taking it to someone I trust right away is what I'll put on my agenda.
