A picture of a cute smiling little boy with the caption:
"Tell him about sexual abuse, Or let him experience it himself"
"I wish my parents would have taught me about sexual abuse, so my abuser wouldn't have."

Thanks, I'm feeling very "in your face" about it lately.

LoS,
The idea is a good one, but I wonder how many people would wear such a T-shirt. It was interesting at the NY conference to see how participants reacted to the carry-bags they were given, with the "MaleSurvivor" logo on them. Some were okay about them, others were careful, outside the john Jay School, to carry them so the logo did not show. That old feeling of guilt and shame can stick with us!
Much love, Larry

I actually wondered if malesurvivor.org had shirts etc, but then of course that was quickly followed with the fear of actually putting it on.
That fear and shame is very difficult to overcome.

Anyone know if you had your own MaleSurvivor.Org shirt made up if anyone here would have a problem with it?
I think I'm getting to the point where I'd actually wear it!

I would wear the logo shirt, if someone asks I could tell them what I want to disclose or not disclose. Not everyone is receptive to the message. Plus if it had anything else on it I would not be able to wear it to work. Since I spend 40 hrs a week there I would like to be able to wear it while working. I do have a support network at work. A 20oz travel mug would be nice, and Mouse pads, bumper stickers. I believe these would all generate a fair revenue stream to help with WOR funding.

Hey, cool! ! ! Someones interested. LOL
As I've been thinking about this, I'm imagining a good bit of practice handling people. I think if someone quickly asked me,
"So what happened to you? "
I just wouldn't talk about myself much, but try to educate and ask them about their own attitudes and interest. My goal isn't to be all vulnerable with strangers after all. I want them to talk about it from their perspective. Everyone knows a survivor after all.
I'm sure you'd get unfriendly comments too which you'd have to learn to deal with. But I think that would be strengthening in done right.

i think pens are a good idea, you get pens for lots of things like this, i would quite like a pen, people are not usually too suspicious about pens, they accept that people pick up pens with stuff on everywhere, and if somebody asks you, you can educate them, could bring people into the fold, and then if somebody asked and you wanted to tell that person, it would be somewhere to start

Ricky, I would wear the logo shirt, if someone asks I could tell them what I want to disclose or not disclose. Not everyone is receptive to the message. A 20oz travel mug would be nice, and Mouse pads, bumper stickers. I believe these would all generate a fair revenue stream to help with WOR funding. You mean the logo of the three boys' heads? That would be great on a T-shirt! And as you say, the guy wearing the shirt could decide what he discloses and to whom. We have indeed had T-shirts in the past. I have one from a 2003 conference; it was sent to me when I became a member in 2005, though I had not been to the conference. Much love, Larry

i would wear that logo, i do really like that logo, i took it the other day and put it into paint and tried to think how i could change it, to make it better, but i found that it was just right as it was i think people would understand the essence of that logo in many different ways depending on their outlook, its a good idea

OK...
I happen to own a business that handles this sort of stuff.
If I get the word... I would head up the effort.
I have been trying to think of ways to provide services to MS, because of the great WoR I attended.
I also agree it could be a great revenue stream.
If the BoD... or anyone else wants to contact me, just drop me a PM.
Luv ya all, Carl

Awesome idea LoS! Very powerful statement. Who cares if people get uncomfortable... we were/are. They should wake up. Any word from the Board of Directors to offer them through the site?

The logo of the three heads speaks volumes to me, and it gives me the ability to respond to a question, or not. If this shirt were available, I'd sure as hell wear it!

Ok, this thread has been here since february last year, and this isn't the only thread proposing t-shirts and mugs and things.
I think this is such a good idea.
I guess for me in Britiain it would be a little more difficult to order one, but i guess i can get it shipped over right?
I like the heads one, but also like this one:
A picture of a cute smiling little boy with the caption:
"Tell him about sexual abuse, Or let him experience it himself"
The other one, with parents, i don't like, its a good message, but parents are abusers too, and i wouldn't wear that one.
So, including me, there are 5 of us who want it just in the last two days.
If Carls business has a website to order from, and if this is all approved through the right channels and the malesurvivor president, then i am sure this can be an easy thing to do.
So who shall we contact, should we contact Carl, shall we put in a query to the moderators to make an official request? and then with their support try to see who else is interested.
I will send off some PM's and see what i get back.

I think a better way to promote safety for boys would be to invite parents to "Learn to Protect Your Children" Townhall type meetings in every neighborhood where male survivors could educate and tell the horrors of what happens to many survivors who were not protected.....Knowing the chances of this occurring and the horror of living with it might help to protect children....It could be like out-reach in Africa to teach them about the risks of the epidemic of aids.......people were just so unaware as they are here with this problem
