I don't think going on the internet and sitting home alone is a very interesting hobby.

But at least the night was fun. I don't know what impression I made, but I was out at least. Isolation stinks. Heard some good poetry and met nice people. Spent too much money on food and drinks, but hey...it was fun. I should start writing again.

Yes you should and you should share it with other people. In real life although here is nice to if you want to share your stuff. But getting out among people is healthy. I tend to lose ground when I isolate my self. I need the feed back of eye contact, facial expressions, body language if you know what I mean.
Also I need to help me remember to comb my hair, brush my teeth, shower, change clothes which I tend to let slide staying home in front of a monitor/keyboard. But that is just me.

It's great you're breaking the isolation. It's a risk, yes, but what in life that's worth having comes without risks? I positively hated getting out and around again there for awhile, but man, am I ever glad I stuck with it!

it is good for us to get out into the world though - we need to see that there is good in the outside world

I tell them that I like to get stoned, eat chitos, and watch Star Trek. That pretty much changes the subject pretty fast.

I'll bet you'd like xkcd then. He's always coming up with some sort of, umm, unique way to have fun with people... ;-)

I don't have much of a life outside of work. I go fishing sometimes and do woodworking. To be honest nobody has asked me that in a long time.

I spend many a night right here on the computer playing Duke Nukem3D and watching the Sci-Fi channel ... its fun for me :-)

I just say I'm a dirty old man, emeritus (arthritis and all that) then the questions stop if they're shocked; but if they aren't, the fun begins.

When they become pushy and won't go away, I simply ask in a loud voice: "You did WHAT with a goat?"
