today i confided in my regular doctor about my abuse. i am very happy to report it went better than i ever would have predicted. he was quiet and let me fumble, stumble, and stutter my way through. his first question was "Are you seeing someone professionally for help?" so he was pleased i already have a T.

i don't know that i feel any "different" having told him - but i am celebrating that i actually did it. i had the appointment for him to re-evaluate my sleeping pills. he was going to fix the dose i was taking before i told him - so i didn't "have" to say anything. it was something i chose to do for me. that alone is different.

anyhoo - i just wanted to post this since all of you have been so supportive.

That's great! Doing things just for our own well being feels good doesn't it? I decided to tell my doctors a while ago. I made up a medical form on my computer that has all of the meds I take and all the hospitalizations, accidents, etc. that I've had. I did it because it gets harder and harder to remember all that stuff. I put the CSA down there too. It's just as important to me and my well being as him knowing that I tore a meniscus in my knee back in '69.

Telling a person who will not judge or demeanish your feelings and experience is a good thing for survivors. It is a planned disclosure, I think.
