Lately I've been using my Klonopin (or Clonopin/Clonazapam) as a PRN treatment for stress and anxiety at bedtime. I then find myself just "up and doing things" the next morning. That is, I forget anything that happened at bedtime (when I took the pill) and seem to get up and begin functioning. Then, I truly wake up, but already dressed, working or whatever. It all feels like a "big blank."

Is this bad? Is it unusual? Should I even be concerned?

I can't ask my psychiatrist as he is on a long vaca to India.

Does your psych have a nurse you can talk to? Or is there a psych on call at the clinic where you see your psych?

In my experience, going through "big blanks" is never a good thing, but I'm not a doctor.

that happend with me with Ambien (sp). I took the pill meaning to go to bed and then my sister called. I can remember there was nothing outstanding about the conversation plus I remember being aware of everything I was doing, that I was in control, and that we had a conversation but I could not remember any of the conversaiton the next day.

It didn't bother me too much becuause I knew what happend in that the meds did what they were supposed to do to allow me to sleep but it was indeed weird.

I'm not sure what help that offers but at least you know you're not alone.

I did have amnesia to the point of not remembering the other couple of days and even weeks.

However, that was before I started to take antidepressants. I am better doing now.

I did have amnesia when I did drugs in childhood too. It has gone long time ago, though.

Take care. You can of course search for this drug side effects on the Internet and see if it causes amnesia.

The only time my clonazepam has caused me blackouts is if I drink heavily with it. Can I ask how many milligrams is your usual bedtime dose? I generally don't take more than 1mg unless I am really stressed out. 2mg plus drinking will likely cause me to not remember the evening (blackout).

Personally, I have found that benzos are much more useful if I take it before a stressful event (tough day of work or a meeting with the boss), and not so much for anxiety attacks. It just seems to take the sting out of what would normally be a very stressful day, which helps make my life just a bit simpler. I think any one of us could use some help like that.

.5 to 1.0mg is all. I've always been one to react to drugs in strange ways. I'm like that 6-sigma element that "rarely occurs." For example, I'm the guy who's blood pressure drops to "unsafe levels" from Viagra.
