I really like the poem, dancr. Here is some of what I thought, when I read it.
............They take what they want;
step on toes;
never bat an eye.
With no regard for the damage they inflict
Ignoring their victims cry................
There's a lot to be said for not stepping on toes, not inflicting damage, and not creating victims. I have also been shy for the most part during my life, and I realize it has held me back. Since I've begun recovery, though I have met people who aren't shy and seem to be able to navigate the maze. The good thing though, is that I seem some of these people as my friends... those who won't step on toes... those who won't victimize me or anyone else....those I can trust. That's a very good feeling. I am happy for them. I am happy to know them, and I am happy that I think I am becoming more like them, as I continue my recovery.
Just some of my thoughts.
