HOPE?
I ‘m tired of wandering alone in this world I want to connect to a few Of the lovers of life that have no fear Hold tight to what they know to be true That the love which abounds in a world of trust Is for all not a chosen few We can gain so much more when we give more away The payoff, a life fresh and new With the hope of recovery not in question at all I’ll get back what I’ve given to you And relax in compassion and brotherly love Where you’re growing, and I am too
With all of that said I confess just a bit That the way that I see it is this, I can look at the world in an ideal way And imagine a life filled with bliss But when all has been said and the feelings are clear Full love is still what I miss For I’m lacking some pieces that it takes to be whole They were devoured by an evil man’s kiss

Dan,
One day you will be one of the fearless "lovers of love", as you were always meant to be. Your ability to write like this shows that this is true, my friend. Sometimes I think that what we need to recover we already have. We just have to learn to trust in ourselves again.
Much love, Larry

sometimes I feel the healing that has taken place but at other times I realize that I am still far away from the goal. I pray for all of us that we become one of the fearless "lovers of life" with fears left far behind. Thanks, Larry

Dan,
That feeling of being close, then far, then close again, etc., comes from the fact that sometimes we know something to be true but can't yet trust in it enough to use it as a tool in rebuilding our lives. That is, sometimes our old fears as abused boys are still powerful enough to overrule what we know to be true as adults; our heart vetoes our head I guess.
Much love, Larry

Larry, sometimes I feel that this is just all too complex for me to figure out and have a constant behavior pattern based on the truth. I feel like I "need a rest from the scheduled universe".

Dan,
It's very complicated indeed, and I sure do know what you mean when you speak of needing a rest from the scheduled universe. It's okay if we feel overwhelmed sometimes; it's not a sign of failure, I mean. If at any time you need a break you should take it. I don't think recovery is beyond any of us, but it is important to recognize and respect our limits.
Much love, Larry
