Your eyes flash frustration
I start to feel hot
And part of meís with you
The other is not
I lock onto the air
Between you and me
My eyes find a focus
Where thereís nothing to see
My face is a mask
Each muscle goes smooth
Like HAL, my voice flattens
But just fails to soothe
I want this scene over
I push toward that end
Youíre a problem to manage
I forget youíre my friend
Youíre scanning to find me
But nobody can
Now youíve met Doctor Jekyll
And the Invisible Man

Thereís a child I still echo
Who was brave and big-hearted
He would lifeguard his family
From the waves that they started
But when their tsunami
Shook the black sky with thunder
He let the water pass through him
And was seldom pulled under
He would help when he could
And dissolve when he must
He was just made of water
Nothing solid to trust
The waterís still bottled
Itís the potion that can
Turn the kind Doctor Jekyll
To the Invisible Man

David,

Really interesting. But hey, there are forces no child can stand against. It's like the idea of thr oak tree and the reed in a storm: the oak stands firm and gets torn out of the ground, while the reed, which didn't seem so strong during the storm, is the one still standing and flourishing afterwards.

Much love,
Larry

Thanks, Larry --

The challenge is that now it's time to grow some roots and bark and stay put when there's conflict. I'd like to honor and be grateful for my old survival skills, without using them now when I don't need them.
