It's happened to me a couple times. In the old days it was called old hag, incubus, succubus, its all the same. Its pretty scary if you don't realize what is happening. Its like your eyes and mind wake up but your body is still sleeping. So it gives you an other worldly feeling.

I clearly remember it happening in my early teens once or twice. I really dont think it has happened since.

My problem now is nightmares following me into the day.

Very interesting Mark, I don't recall ever having it while sleeping on my side either. The only times I can clearly remember experiencing this, I have been on my back.

I'll have to think about that some more.

How interesting that you brought this up.
I never realized it but my dream is always of me lying in bed, sleeping. I can see my room. I can feel someone walkint into the room. Standing next to me, but I am facing the other way (away from him). I can feel him getting into bed with me. LIke the sheets being pulled and then his weight as he sits down then gets into bed with me.
That's when I try to get away and I can't.
I never even associated the specifics of this dream with abuse.
I don't know why I know this but it's an adult male.
Weird.
