Greetings Survivors,

This will be my first post. I'm reluctant! It will be 21 years this Thanksgiving that I started to receive professional counseling for the sexual violation received from my uncle. Honestly, I'm not sure how young I was when the trauma first started (2-3 years old), but it continued till 15 years old.

I tried a recovery group the beginning of this year and it wasn't solution oriented.

Welcome. I understand the reluctance to that first post! I hope you find, as I did, as time goes, the posts get a little easier as you get to know some of the guys here.

Welcome! I understand about the group issue, sometimes they can devolve into competitions for attention, or pissing contests, or end up reinforcing a perpetual-victim mentality- i had the same issues w/ depression groups i (very briefly) attended...

Welcomr to the site and I'm glad you found us. I'm sorry your group didn't work out, but when you can, try to talk about other options here and perhaps guys who have tried them will be able to offer some insights.
