Just wanted to know if there are any male survivors out there that are from the Chicagoland area. Just finished my first WOR and wanted to conntect with those who share the same desire for recovery and happiness.

From Chicago area, kind of anyway, North West Indiana. I haven't had much luck finding a group either. I have toyed with the idea of starting a group, but not sure how to go about it. Any thoughts?

Keep an eye out for the next newsletter scheduled to be published here in late January. It will have an article from one of the first men to start an MS support group. His is in Los Angeles. It will be a step by step process for getting a support group off the ground.

In the meantime, keep in touch with the guys who are geographically closest to you and who use these boards. Good luck.

Hi- i don't know exactly how old this thread is, but i'm relocating to the Chicago area shortly, and would welcome any chance to connect with fellow survivors in the area; i see there's some T's listed in the "Find a Therapist" section here for Chicago, and will be looking into that, too. This relocation provides me with the opportunity to utilize recovery resources beyond participating here at MS, so i'm just trying to reach out and take the next steps, and also add my support to any survivors/groups in the Chicago area. I am new to site but have been going to SAA meetings. http://www.saa-recovery.org/ for more information. I am in North Chicago and the SAA group I go to is close. I would like to get a MS group started or go to one here in NE Illinois. SAA is great and all, but I think that my SA stems from being a survivor of abuse. I live about an hour or two south of Chicago...more Central Illinois, but I think I can show up occasionally.

Keep you posted. We survivors are a cautious bunch (and should be),but I am starting the ball rolling, let'st see what happens. I myself am planning on attending the Torono, CA group from time to time. Thanks
