ugh. TW was evacuated for 48 hours and is now home hoping not to get evacuated again. The air here is f*ing horrible and the news is totally confusing. Please do wish us luck, all. Thanks!

*I* am fine (along with my lovely lady-friend, my dog and my 3 chickens) for now at least, but this sh*t, for anyone not on the ground here is absolutely horrible.
The air is like a swamp evaporating into charcoal capable of causing heart attacks in infants, the firefighters are completely spent on no sleep for at least two days, fire personnel are spread so, so, so thin, etc. And we are *lucky* -- the fire came to the end of my street, less than a block away. New fires are popping up every couple hours. We are getting used to watching like, bi-planes, dumping water on them. Last night we stopped the car and watched one fire that was like the way a child imagines a lava flow. Just completely huge and orange and fluid and unstoppable.
Sigh. All part of living in So-Cal, but a whole lot more scary than usual.

I appreciate your concern, but I think you got me mixed up with someone else in chat the other night. I'm pretty safe up here in North Dakota.
