Does anyone plan to see this? I think that I"m afraid to see this movie. It has CSA scene in it.

Is it a good thing they are putting this movie out, so people know that sort of thing happens.

according to an article i saw a short time ago, the CSA scene is going to be pretty much removed from the movie due to demands made by the young actor's family. I'm sure it will still be implied, however.

I think for me, I won't be looking to see this movie in a theatre setting, rather, I'd prefer to watch in the comfort of my own home should some parts be particularly triggering or uncomfortable.

I have heard the book is phenomenal and would love to read it. I like movies that have been made into books as it gives me a chance to read the novel afterwards and get the rest of the story \:\)

Anyways, if anyone is a bit leery of watching it I'd recommend proceeding with caution. Like Jarrad said the entire storyline isn't about CSA, its just one particular scene.

All the best,
Brian

I think the whole book is an allegory for CSA and coming to terms with it.

I really want to see this film but i think i will be waiting for it to come to DVD.

I heard that the actors family wanted to change the scene for their families safety. They were afraid afganastanies would think it was real and that would place there son in danger.

The article i read though made it sound like they were ok with the scene if they would be granted enough money to move out of afganastan. which i think given the amount of money this film is sure to make, and the dangers of living in afganastan is a very fair thing to ask for.

rcm, thats interesting. i thought the book was about a man's jounrey of self dicovery and the brutal truth that we are all human. i thought it had very little to do with csa. he himself, was never touched. it was his friend.

Triggers:

True, but I had just read that two other people got raped in the book as well, including the one who held down Hassan's legs.
