I am rather 'bumping' this post, because I find it while looking for another one, and I liked reading it.

I am sorry but sometimes we are not in control of certain things in our lives.

I know there is some things not of our control. I have had cancer twice in last few years. If I could control that, I would certainly not chosen it.

But sometime we have more control, and more choices, and more positives in our lives then what we think we do or see. That was the point of the post.

Anyway90 and Andrei,
You are both right that sometimes we don't have control of what has happened in our past. We do have the power of "choice".
We can chose how we react, we can chose how deeply we love, and we can chose how we show others how we love.
The power of choice can also be a burden because no matter what happened in the past or what happens today, we are responsible for what we chose to do with TODAY.

Gerald
PS. I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY TODAY.

Anyway90,

What Andrei is getting at is that there are so many things in our lives that we can be positive about and appreciate, laugh at and enjoy - just as they are. If we can seize hold of those opportunities, then we will have much more happiness in our lives that we might otherwise have thought possible.

Of course you are right - there are many negative things in our lives that we can't control. But is that the sum total of who we are and what life holds for us? No. Or rather, that will happen only if we allow the bad things to overwhelm everything else.

Andrei has discovered that he doesn't have to do that. He's empowering himself and making choices that are good for him, even when that seems dangerous and difficult, and even when all seems lost and hopeless. He's telling you that you can do the same.

Much love,
Larry
