Dave, Thanks for this, because it makes me realize that after the age of 10 I wasn't into superheroes at all. Adult men frightened me and superheroes just reminded me how helpless I was against what I thought all men wanted from me. I sought comfort in the world of cartoons instead. Like Buzz that didn't change until I had my own son. Then I plunged into this fantasy world right up to the eyes and had as much fun with them as he did! My favorite....HAS to be Batman! And super-villian? Danny Devito as the Joker!!! Much love, Larry

Dave,
I was raised in a situation where comic books were a sin or some such. Television also was not good for my child mind so that was out as well. Super hero? I didn't know what one was, but I had a fertile imagination and created my own superhero's all the time. One that would come in and rescue me from "mean" parents. Together we would have lots of fun doing various things, none of which I can remember now so many years downstream, nor can I remember any of their names. I just remember letting my mind take me away from the harshness of my life to a place where there were puppies, playing children, my "super hero", and no adults to hurt us...

For me?
Bumblebee, the Transformer. The weakling with the courage of a lion and a heart to match was my role model. I always envisioned myself being just like him. No, I didn't want to save the world or destroy the bad guys. I just wanted my friends to know they could count on me. I just wanted to be the guy who was there when people were hurt.
I still find myself trying to prove that to myself today.
