I have heard of a sort of sexual therapist where they can help you with issues through touching (not necessarily sex) and helping you feel comfortable with yourself and sex. I know that a registered therapist can lose their license if they do anything like this and the only sites I find are escort sites which I am not at all looking for. I have gone as far as I can with 'talk therapy' and need to deal with this on a physical level. Any resources anyone knows of? I live in Texas

TG, I recommend that you check out Body Electric. I do not have direct experience with them but I think this might be what you're looking for. Feel free to PM me, I may have other ideas. Good luck.

I have no personal experience with them, but they seem like they would be what you are looking for.

TG BE has a workshop in Austin mid October. I don't want to get into details because I'm not sure it is appropriate but I might be of some help. I am attending a retreat this weekend and one of the facilitators is a BE therapist. Good luck.

If you want to know more about Body Electric, you can look them up on the web.

You may want to contact your local mental health association and ask them for some referrals for therapists who focus on sexual issues.

Good luck

Texasguy,

Welcome to Male Survivor - we have a great community here and I know you will find a lot of support and understanding here among us.

On your question, my first thought is to ask whether you are in a more general course of therapy as well. I ask because I wonder if it's a good idea to get into this kind of specialized treatment before you have spent time on your recovery in general. All these issues are closely related, of course.

Much love,
Larry

Hello, Texasguy,

Welcome to MS.

I wanted to try to respond to your question. I have recently started counseling with a therapist woman. On the first meeting she told me she works in two ways with the problem of sexual trauma. The first is work with the body (including trans), and the second is the work with images (art therapy). She told me the later is safer, and I agreed we would better go with images, and talk.

So I think that kind of touching therapy is exhisting, but it is up to you to decide whether it is really for you, and if your comfort level with the therapist is enough.

I hope it will give you some hints in your search.

Alexey

Welcome, texasguy. I used to live in San Antonio, myself.

Thanks rcm, I really appreciate it! I am and have been in traditional therapy for over 2 years with some results but even my therapist thought that this would be a good idea. He wants to meet with whomever I decide to work with though. I really hope this helps...I am a little nervous about the whole thing.
