Guys,

I need any pointers regarding this legal issue:

I've already contacted the District Attorney's office in the jurisdiction of my abuse. I've left a voicemail for the specialist who handles these sorts of cases. My goal is to persue any/all criminal legal avenues.

I've alreay been told by my attorney that the statute of limitations has run-out on this matter, but I want to hear from the DA's mouth that there's nothing more to do.

I'm wondering if any of you have suggestions or outlines for me to follow once I have live contact with this Asst DA.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I have no pointers, but I have a comment.... good for you! This is something I have not had the balls to do myself... don't know if I ever will - but even if there is nothing more you can do, it is a great step in placing the blame where it belongs... on those bastards!
I am very proud of you, Rob.

Rob? Have you by chance looked your perps up on the national sex offender registry? http://www.nsopr.gov/

IF they have offended you could let the police or social services departments in areas that they now reside in know what happened to you. Just a thought, hell I don't know. There are legal issues to consider before doing such things though.

Do you have a lawyer? Were any other boys victimized by your perps? Could you contact them? If you can corroborate your stories and point to the same perps, you could file a civil suit against them, just like they did to Micheal Jackson.

Personally, I would like to see you do this.

Thinking about this further however, the first stumbling block that I see is that you could NOT sue them for damages since they were minors at the time.

Rob,
The statute of limitations may have run out, but sometimes states will open up windows of opportunity for past cases when they increase/change the statute of limitations in sexual abuse cases.

Robbie,

Good for you! People have to be held accoutable! And we all have to do a better job of telling people the life long damage this causes - for many I think "...they know not what they do." Cases like your can be a real eye opener for people - you can't just get away with hurting people.

I spoke to the DA's office today. She drilled me for date details and anything else that could be construed as exceptions to the statute of limitations. There ARE in fact exceptions...my case just does not happen to meet any of them. But I would encourage anyone to try this legal step regardless of how long its been. Laws vary from state to state. You never know when you might still have a good criminal case.
