Not in any particualar order, that would be impossible:

1) Van MOrrison -- my 7 year-old son's favorite album is Moon Dance

2) Nina Simone

3) Iris Dement

4) Leonard Cohen -- yeah, he's not just a lyricist to me, he sings naked like no one else

5) Mary Margarette O'Hara -- my son's first love, when he was two we'd have to sit in my car to listen to her then one and only album (she's since come out with another)

6) Tanita Tikarum

George Michael and Linkin Park in the same list? Wow - that is eclectic!

My little boy is 7 years old. The first time he heard Lou Reed at about 4 or 5 he said that he never knew someone could sound so cool.

I've loved listening to music through his ears.

Oh My Gosh -

How could I not mention Joan Armatrading. Her performance of Willow on the 'Boys on the Side' soundtrack is just breathtaking. And from someone that quotes Antoine de Saint-Exupery!

Selene - you rock!

Gabbahey -

My 18 year old daughter and I have been listening to the latest Johnny Cash albums and we are both so moved. Wow! American IV is so powerful. And what about Nanci Griffith - her duets with Darrius Rucker (Hootie & The Blowfish) are soooo beautiful.
