I am having a slow day at work, writing poetry - if you have not noticed - and thinking a great deal. On the way home for lunch I was listening to some music and thought 'I wonder what singers other members like?' Here are my top 5.
1 - Van Morrison - The man just touches my soul. His apperance on the Last Waltz with The Band is epic.
2 - Sam Cooke - No one - repeat no one - sang with more soul than this man.
3 - Freddie Mercury - Others have tried to duplicate, but Freddy Mercury was a vocal genius with a great gift.
4 - Ray Charles - Great success in virtually every type of music puts him on my list.
5 - Richard Manuel - His falsetto's with The Band make me cry - need I say more.

1/ Burke Shelley - Budgie (Welsh band - an influence on Metallica) - Wondering what everyone knows.
2/ Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam - Alive
3 / Lemmy - Motorhead - Joy of Labour
4/ Steve Winwood - Traffic - Sometimes I feel so uninspired.
5/ Phil Lynott - Thin Lizzy - Still in love with you
6/ Sammy Hagar - Montrose (pre VH etc) - Space Station NO.5 and Connection (an old stones song)
7/ David Coverdale - Whitesnake - Here I Go Again
8/ Ozzy Osborne - Crazy Train & anything by Sabbath.
9/ Ian Gillan - Deep Purple - Child in Time (Made in Japan Version)
10/ Rob Halford - Judas Priest - The last rose of summer.
If I really thought about this one, it would drive me mad: There's Slade (Noddy), T-Rex (Marc), Bowie (everyone could be a hero, if just for one day), Iggy, Ian Hunter, Alice Cooper, christ - no mention of Robert Plant. Then there's Eddie of the Hot Rods, Dio, Hell is for Heroes and hundreds more - Rock Music kept me going til I came here!

yea----------------stevie ray vaughn--------------killer The problem with SRV is that, while he is an outstanding vocalist, I'll always think of him as a guitarist first (and an awesome one at that). But if we include SRV, we have to include Eric Clapton as well. I also agree with Eddie Vedder.

Kasta, Krec, Splin, Uma Turman, Sergey Lazarav, Dima Bilan, Yulia Savicheva, Vladimir Vysotsky.
And some of the 'old' American music, like Ray Charles, Odis Redding. And some new, like Lennie Kravitz, and U2 (I know they are not American).
