Get thee to a doctor. If they are migraines or clusters a drug called Maxalt is very good.

Warmth alos helps, a heating pad or warm towel around your head and neck. If you have a partner or friend have them massage your fete primarily the big toe - these are where pressure points connect to the rest of your body.

I have suffered from cluster headaches all my life. Sometimes its just a matter of finding the right meds - because some don't work with some people. My husband takes a mood stabilizer, Lamictal that has cured him of constant headaches.

Lie in a dark, quiet room.

Good luck - does it help to know I am out here feeling for you?

Grace

I've been under a lot of stress and the hot bath thing - in a dark bathroom has helped a bit.

so thanks - I do need a checkup - again probably - I will go -
it's a little scary.

Jeez - my teeth are shards from stress lol - nasty.

But I am not quite the snaggle tooth.....

I just reread this - not great lol.

....pretty enough to trick or treat I guess.

Thanks Grace.

Warm or hot compresses or heating pads are absolutely the worst thing for a headache - this causes the blood to flow more quickly through the veins and arteries which in turn causes the headache to worsen. I know it feels good when first applied, but resist and use a flexible ice pack instead, wrapped in a thin towel. If you don't have one, a bag of frozen vegtables or the like works just as well. For a migraine, I put the ice pack directly where the pain is as well as on the back of my neck, right at the base of my skull. For an every day tension headache, even a bad one, the neck works best.

I used Maxalt for a while for my migrains and it worked great. The doc now has me on Imitrex, which also works, especially the shots.

Good luck folks.

Trish

Markgreyblue,

If you see a doctor you might want to ask about Topamax. It's an anti-seizure drug but has shown to work very well in preventing migraine headaches.

pain4ever,

I was on it also - for seizures - but I read the literature. Does it make you tired? I also lost any appetite I had.

Kelly,

Not that I have noticed but I am used to being tired all of the time. I am so happy I am not having headaches that I truely would not mind if I was tired all the time!!
