I think this might be a good movie for survivors. There is a slight trigger factor, though. The movie is not about abuse specifically; rather, it is about a young boy who deals with the death of a friend and his subsequent grief and guilt over something that wasn't his fault. I really enjoyed this movie.

Note: the advertizing campaign for this movie was extremely misleading, portraying it as a "Neverending Story"-type fantasy; it is nothing of the sort.

They made so much publicity on this movie that everybody thought it was sth like Narnia. But I liked the overall though it was very misleading. The scene when he finally gets some attention from his family is very beautiful.

Hmmmmm. I haven't seen this one yet, though there's been a big fuss over it here in the UK. Sounds like I should give it a look. I'm on my way out, so maybe a stop at the Blockbuster is in the cards for me today. \:\)

Much love,
Larry

Watched it this week end, it was nothing lie what the trailers portrayed. It was very good though, it is one I would like to own.

I saw it when it came out and did not really care for it. Has some very sad parts to it. But not what I wanted to see will not take the children to see it

I agree. It's a wonderful film for us. It really "gets" the emotional impact of loss of childhood. I cried too.
