Tomorrow morning I will be participating in a 1/2 marathon race up Pike's Peak, a 14,000 foot mountain near Colorado Springs, Colorado.
I know one thing that will help me reach the top is that, in my mind, I'm going to be running as a survivor and thinking of the struggles all my brothers have going on right now, and how strong you all are. I am very proud to be associated with such a strong, outstanding group of men.
Thank you all for helping me get this far in my recovery, and thanks in advance for all the support I will be counting on as I continue this journey.
Dan

Dan, That sounds like a real challenge: a half marathon up Pike's Peak? Good grief! I hope you do well and make sure to celebrate when you hit the top. Much love, Larry

If I were him, Larry, I wouldn't be able to celebrate anything after reaching the top!!!!!!
I wish you well, Dan.

Thanks for all the warm wishes. It went really well. It hurt like hell and I felt like giving up so many times, but I drew from the strength I've gathered from you all.
Before the start, I was telling someone it is a 7,000 foot gain in elevation, and about 3 runners yelled "7,815!" And you know what? That last 815 feet was BRUTAL, so I'll never make that mistake again.
My body is a wreck right now, but my mind and heart are soaring!
