It's getting late in the afternoon here..gonna be dark soon
and I find myself very anxious...thinking about grabbing
some beer so I can sleep...This happens a lot now...I just
realized it a few minutes ago...it's been 30 years since
the first one started his abuse...shouldn't i be over
this already?

I can relate to your post Frog.

I have a different substance that helps me sleep, though not legal like your choice, and even though we could argue that weed should be as legal as booze, that's another subject.

I'm not a heavy user, in fact, less than a half a gram a day or so, plus a little on days off.

I know that if I don't get my buzz, I don't sleep. Seriously, my mind and body are so used to the buzz, without any, I can lay in bed all night long and never get 10 seconds of sleep. That will last for about 4 days before I do sleep, and then, oh my God the nightmares will wake me up several times a night. With my buzz on, I'm lucky if I dream anything at all, and if I do, I don't remember it after I fall back asleep again.

So, needless to say, I do my best to not run out. Sad to say but that is my reality, like it or not, I just accept it.

Hope you get to feeling better, and that you do get some good sleep.

Best wishes and warmest regards,
Scott

For years, I used pot to help me sleep. When I finally gave up the pot, I used a different tactic. I'd spent hours upon hours at the poker table, staying up late every night, so that I could fall to sleep out of exhaustion the moment my head hit the pillow.

Yes, I can relate.

I'll just say that I spent years using alcohol and drugs to cope with my problems and they nearly killed me. Heroin took the life of a girl I cared for very much, and with her the unborn child she was carrying; and then the next year it claimed a friend who was one of the most talented singers I have ever heard.

What we don't factor in when we succumb to these false friends is the problem that eventually they help less and less, and you need more and more. And meanwhile the issues that are really troubling us remain untouched and probably are getting worse.

I don't think it helps to blame people and even if it did help, I would be the last one who would deserve to start throwing stones. I'll just say that I'm convinced all these ways of coping are catastrophes waiting to happen.

It took three tragic deaths for me to get my wake-up call, and yeah, it could have been worse. I wouldn't wish any of that on anyone.

Much love,
Larry

How do you sleep...I'm 38 and cannot remember ever sleeping
unless self medicated or so damn exhausted from days w/o sleep
that my body just cannot function anymore and I pass out..

hideout,

How can you say "thats bad" immediately followed by "I do heroin and eecasty a lot"? Isn't that a huge oxymoron?
