not me...but my abuse was back in the 70's and my dad convinced me that no one would believe a kid over an adult...so it wasn't even an option in my mind.

Call the cops? Kinda hard to do when one is 10yo, and the perp is either one's mother, or a kid of the same age, in the 70s.

Cameron,

I never told...not even myself for 35 years. My disassociation was so strong it took me 35 years to relize why I was cutting myself and acting plain crazy. In the nightmares and flashbacks that followed, I was little more than a zombie during the abuse...they could put me in whatever position they wanted, like a gi joe toy, and I would stay that way until they were done.

Tell?...not even myself!

I think that all depends on WHO i would have been talking to. Back then i think there were people who would have investigated and IF my two sisters wouldn't have been too frightened to speak up, then I think maybe. Too many if's to really know for sure back then....but SO much has changed and evolved in the world regarding CSA and the benefit of the doubt going to the accuser, telling the cops today - I think the chances are MUCH higher for a person being believed.

STILL...whether or not a person tells ultimately starts with whethr or not that person feels safe from their perpetrator if they do tell...I know that is what kept me from telling more than anything.

its not a bad question it's a good question, it's just that everyone is different and from different situations, you have nothing to be sorry for.

Cameron,

It's not a bad question, and you have no reason to be sorry. I know a lot of people have asked you some uncomfortable questions in the other thread you started, and the important thing is that you don't need to share anything unless you feel comfortable doing so.

This takes a lot of courage, and you sound like a pretty cool guy. If you ever need to talk, you can send me a private message, or you can post on this forum. There are lots of guys here who have been in your shoes, and there are lots of guys here who are totally willing to help.

Bryan
