This song was very special to me when I first heard it when I was 11 or so in 1984. This song spoke to me. In my mind I pictured Morrissey speaking to me and being my "protector." During many dark nights throughout my life, this song got me through. Listening to it still, it brings a lump to my throat.

It's been a while since I posted a new lyric. Here's an other one of Bryan Adams. Allthought it's meant as a lovesong to the Horse "Spirit". As seen in the movie Spirit - Stallion of the Cimarron.

I read it slightly different.

The meaning of this song for me is more or less something like this:
In the first paragraph I speak myself, all of the following paragraphs it's my inner child crying out to me.
My inner child is requesting me to release him now from all the quilt and all the shame. He waited long enough. So please just let "little me" be who he always was going to be. And ultimately just let "little me" out from the cell or compartment I tried to keep him in. In order to prevent me from behaving like I really am without the walls and the defensive structures all around me. In the beginning it looked "smart" to leaving him behind and picking him up once it would have been safe again. It's just that it never looks the right time, and in the end I never really intended to pick him up anyway.

I know it's not written down easily. What I really wanted to tell was in short: my inner child has been locked up long enough and wants to be free.
