On a site this big there must be a few people that either are deaf or know anyone that is deaf...
Can't help you though! Just try to keep this thread high on the list so it doesnt get lost between all of the other threads.
Awesome job btw!

Xavier

I have taken a sign language class last year... im starting my second year of the class this fall but i am not even close to being able to speak it i can just do very basic stuff... i dont know any onw who is really deaf though or that speaks it pretty good... except for the teacher of course... sorry wish i could be more helpful but i think its awsome that your involved with ASL.

terp,

you already know I sign too. I just don't know really how to accomodate your request via this site.

Well, there were two deaf I got aquainted with on the site. I'm not sure if either one is still coming here. A pity too, since they both seem like good guys.

I'm not deaf but I've had to learn how to sign because my vocal chords are so screwed up I can't talk loudly enough for anyone to hear me.

Very. Been learning it for about 2 years, I still get mixed up on some things cos I sign to fast and get frustrated cos people don't know what I'm trying to say. But once I slow down and take my time then the message gets across.

I learned SEE back in 1985. Interpreted for a few years, then changed churches. Slowly, my number of deaf friends decreased. Now I only have 1 or 2. I'm rusty, but could pick it back up.

It's all I know, but I'd rather pick up ASL now.

asl isn't as difficult as people make it seem. it's basically the same grammar as french.

if i remember right, spanish isn't that far off either. it's a system, TLSOV, Time, Location, Subject, Object, Verb. that's the order in which you sign it. when mentioning a noun, and then describing it, all adjectives go after the noun, because you have to have something b4 you describe it. so, its, time of event, location of event, the subject followed by its adjectives if any, the object followed by its adjectives if any, and the verb. its quite easy.

I do not hear in one ear, but hear good in other, and talk all right.

I am not sure how you can help someone deaf on computer site with writing though. Perhaps I just do not understand of what you mean.

I notice on the atlas that Amherst is not far from Cleveland. Perhaps there is a Deaf Community Center there that you can become involved in?
