Guys,

I read the posts on the Lies we learned to believe. But I want to read and write about the Truths we are learning now, the Truths which were withheld from us in the past.

The truth is, I am basically good.

I have value, as a human beaing, as a man, a father and a spouse.

I can, I will learn how to live in a healthy, committed relationship.

Sex is not Love.

Love is not sex.

The abuse is in the past, and I am in the present. I can, I do choose to leave the abuse in the past, and take the good I can find and make in the present with me to the future.

Thanks for listening.

Wow, what a powerful post. I've never said things like that in regard to my own personal condition. I'm going to try to think thoughts like that. Thanks for posting that Outis. This is the best I can do for now:

with more healing I can be normal
with more healing I can be like everybody else

Peace

Outis: That is exactly how I feel. You have nailed it right on the head. The really hard part is trying to short circuit the hot wire in my brain the all the shit.

But I firmly believe that love involves a total giving of yourself to someone else without expectation and with a deep honesty. It is reciprocated by someone who loves you. Love is sharing, caring, nurturing, holding, comforting and genuine concern for the person you love. Love can come in different forms. The love of a parent for a child; the love of one person for their partner; the love of camaraderie; the love that we have for each of our brothers at this site; the love of a trusted friend; and most importantly the love you have for yourself and your sense of self worth. That is what I strive for each and every day with varying degrees of sucess.

Mike,

Thanks, I needed that. I started the thread when I was preparing on Sunday for my first SIA meeting. I thought I needed something hopeful to start me out that day.

Your post today was great, and just what I needed this afternoon. A lot of fresh pain since taking that step on Sunday.

Thanks again.

OUtis: I know all about fresh pain. But it is a 1000 times better than it was. And each step forward will bring the blessed time nearer for us all. Be kind with yourself Outis and have faith my brother.
