Life's never easy for someone like me
I can't see the forest because of the trees

It's always half empty and never half full
I spend my life pushing on a door that's marked "Pull"

I can't win for losing, the sky's always grey
There's no silver lining, it's always been that way

Too cold to go swimming, too nice to stay in
The bread is too moldy, the lunch meat - too thin

In all of life's journeys I know that I'll find
If I'm in a hurry, I'm in the slow line

There are lumps in the gravy, and a fly in the soup
History shall be repeated, and I'm stuck in the loop

This isn't self pity, it's the way that life is
If I buy some new towels, they're marked "Hers" - never "His"

No one can help me, I must do this to grow
The road set before me is my row to hoe

So don't ask why I'm moody, just look and you'll see
You can never be happy when you're someone like me

Mark,

I remember feeling that way, and man did it suck. But I can assure you there is a way out. We just have to have faith in ourselves and keep doing the work even when we feel there are no results. Sometimes we are making the greatest progress when we feel very hurt and absolutely stuck.

Much love,
Larry

That's almost enough justification to wish to stand still.

Mark,

I know what you mean. But sometimes I look back and I discover that times when I felt I was in bad shape, I felt that way because I was working my way through some pretty rough territory. That I was even getting anywhere, as opposed to just standing still, was only clear to me when I was well clear of those problems and could look back on them.

When we're pushing along in the midst of the whirlwind it's not very easy even to see where we are, much less if we are getting anywhere. There were many days I just kept going not because I myself thought I could do it, but because others thought so.

All idiots, of course! \:D But hey, I'm pretty glad now I listened to them.

Much love,
Larry

Mark,

Perhaps the many voices are addressing many different problems. At one point I thought I was going crazy with all the confusion and chaos that seemed to be flooding me. Everything was hitting me from everywhere at once.

Therapy helped me a lot, and one thing I learned to do at an early point was to stop trying to figure it all out at once. I saw it was okay to take on only bites I could handle and let the rest go for another day. i thought if I did that everything would get worse and I felt like I was only just hanging on anyway. But things did get better once I allowed myself to be human and started taking things at a slower pace.

Much love,
Larry

Thanx. It should get better once i find a new T.
Left message for one today that does EMDR, but no contact yet.

And the wife is tired of waiting for me to "get well" .... so there's another bridge yet to cross.

Mark,

Boy...I really like this one...a lot!

"No one can help me, I must do this to grow The road set before me is my row to hoe," happens to be the line I most closely associatte with.

Asking for help is the absolute hardest thing for me to do.

Or, maybe that's the whole thing...

Because the one thing that has changed so much...is, "I need, I would like...will you help me. Please."
