"The Circle Game" I think is by Joni Michell
I have to try to find the lyrics, I know some of them and they are beautiful, and I remember I liked it as a kid, one of my best early mem's, play my moms record on the recordplayer 1983-4, no wait that was another mem-----fukin COOL!! I just remembered one more memory, good memory from childhood!!!!!!! :-)
I remember siting by the recordplayer/ radio Listening to tina tuner "What's love gotta do with it." Standing up, I could just barely see over the piano seat, I used to grab it to pull myself up(holy crap, I must have been really young, this is great)!!!!!!!!
The Circle Game mem. was when my mom use to play gituar to me and my brother.
so, I guess back to the main topic. Has anyone heard of the song, and do you like it???

Yesterday, a child came out to wander Caught a dragonfly inside a jar Fearful when the sky was full of thunder And tearful at the falling of a star
And the seasons they go 'round and 'round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on the carousel of time We can't return we can only look behind From where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game
Then, the child moved ten times 'round the seasons Skated over ten clear frozen streams Words like, "When you're older", must appease him And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go 'round and 'round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on the carousel of time We can't return we can only look behind From where we came, and go round and round and round In the circle game
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town And they tell him, "Take your time. It won't be long now. 'Til your drag your feet to slow the circles down"
And the seasons they go 'round and 'round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on the carousel of time We can't return we can only look behind From where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty Before the last revolving year is through.
And the seasons they go 'round and 'round And the painted ponies go up and down We're captive on the carousel of time We can't return, we can only look behind From where we came And go round and 'round and 'round In the circle game And go 'round and 'round and 'round in the circle game.

Logan,
I have always liked Joni Mitchell. Her songs have such wonderful and meaningful lyrics, and as a musician she's one of the most creative instrumentalists I have ever heard. She uses a lot of what we call "open tunings", where you retune the guitar to something different from the standard tuning (EADGBE). In fact she uses so many different open tunings that some of them have never been identified!
Much love, Larry

Logan,
I read your lyrics and downloaded the song from iTunes. Thanks for sharing.
Lots of love,
John

Rob, That's really hard to read. Why am I crying? Why do these perspective beast me so fkg hard???? This sucks! It's rough when we begin to allow ourselves to feel again; we have bottled things up for so long that when we let our feelings out now they just flood us. In a way we are like kids trying to learn how to pour a cup of coffee - we just tilt the pot and it splashes out all over the place! I guess the message here, Rob, is that though it hurts like hell this is all a part of the healing process. You aren't malfunctioning, my friend, you're doing just fine. You're keeping it real, and doing that can only help you. Much love, Larry
