Tell me again how life is supposed to go
Just one more time
I'm sure I'll get it
Tell me about love
And caring
And all of those things
Tell me about God, and how He cares
And how even the hairs on your head are numbered
Tell me how Lassie always saves Timmy
And the woodcutter always saves Grandmama
And Snow White
Tell me how the apple only puts her into a deep sleep
I want to hear it all
I want to believe it all
This little piggie went to market
This one went into the back room and.....

Bobby,

I wonder if you realize the importance of what you are saying. The world you are describing is that of the innocent boy before he's abused. We all started out like this - trusting in the world and thinking that it could never hold any danger for us.

Part of growing up involves slowly and gradually letting go of that fantasy world and replacing it with appreciation of the real world and its dangers and setting safe boundaries for ourselves.

That's part of what makes abuse so horrific for a boy. Instead of slowly relinquishing his illusions, safely and surrounded by love and support, he's simply flung into the wall at full speed.

Much love,
Larry

Bobby,

Your poem really speaks about the ideals in life that should have been there for you. How sad that they weren't, but you have a lot of guys here now how are here for you.
