Hey guys,
Okay, I need some advice. I was abused by another kid when I was seven. I am now twenty-two. I have never exhibited any distinct signs of STDs, but I am about to get married and have not had sexual contact with my fiance. I am wondering if I should get a panel of tests done just to be safe and certain that I am not going to transmit anything to my wife. Also concerned about HPV since I could be carrying it without knowing and it is know to cause cervical cancer in women.
Any thoughts?

Please test. Can you think of any good reason not to?
I would also recommend you share as much with your wife as you can. Take it from someone married 18 years... the secrets are not healthy for your relationship. You have done nothing wrong.

Keith R. thanks for the advice. Fortunately I started dealing with things prior to our relationship beginning and she has known from the start. That kind of freedom is a beautiful thing.

Went to the doctor today. says things look fine. It was incredibly uncomfortable, and a bit scary but got through it. Now waiting for a couple of test results, but pretty confident of the all clear. Glad I did it.

Knot,
Well done! I'm sure the peace of mind is worth the trauma and discomfort of the tests themselves. It's for the best not to have this kind of drama hanging over a relationship. Again, all the very best to you and Indigo.
Much love, Larry

terpprm,
I'm not sure this is the case, but I would not assume that if you have had blood work done that would have detected possible STDs. That is, if they aren't specifically testing for STDs, would they show up in the results anyway?
